Mark’s Table

Mark was a long time friend of my husband, and became a dear friend after he served as a groomsman at our wedding. When we moved to Northern Manhattan, he was one block up the street. We always loved spending time with him, dinners, holidays, and whenever I had a creative project and needed advice- he made himself available. Such a humble, joyful, artistic soul, a faithful servant indeed. We will miss him.

Mark was a dear friend in high school (via Pensacola youth crusade/Theological Intitute) and college at Belhaven. He brought such joy everywhere he went. I was thankful to reconnect with him a few years back via Facebook. He was the same gentle soul. I will always remember him as Pooh. I look forward to seeing him in eternity.

Mark was such a faithful friend, and a man of many talents. I volunteered under his leadership of the Sunday Service Ministries at Redeemer. The parties he threw were unique and so much fun, like him! I missed him for several years when he was not at our church, but then he resurfaced to me as he vounteered with Cru Inner City. Despite his sugnificant mobility issues, he showed up for all the events at our ministry site (a very long way from his apt!), making gospel bracelets with me, serving at the registration tables, … whatever sit-down job he could help with! I last saw Mark on May 1 at our ministry’s spring dinner — not attending, but SERVING. My last Mark-sighting before he went Home to the God he loved.

I was so blessed to have bumped into Mark when I got on a NYC bus on May 31! He was going home after lunch with his friends after church and was his jolly joyful self! I served as one of Mark’s Sunday Service volunteers at Redeemer way back at Hunter in 2006! I remembered talking with him after his mom passed suddenly, and he was grieving, but with such hope in knowing she was celebrating in Glory that very day. I have that same confidence that Mark is fully joyful and singing hallelujah in the Presence of His Saviour. I was always so glad to see him serving at the Cru Inner City warehouse in LIC no matter what the weather! He let nothing get in his way of serving. Indeed, Matthew 25:23!

We are so saddened to hear of Mark’s passing. We were friends of Mark during our days at Redeemer Presbyterian and shared much time with him. He introduced us to the “Sonship” teaching that so deepened our faith.

He was a man of many talents. Amazing caricaturist, creative writer, talented costume designer, and carpenter. He built the bookshelves in our apartment. But more importantly his greatest talent was being a good friend and bringing joy to any conversation.

His passing saddens us greatly but we are certain he has been called home to eternal glory.

I am so sorry to hear of Marks passing, but I know he is rejoicing in Heaven!

Mark was a jolly soul . I mostly remember Terry and him palling around together . He was talented and kind . He made others laugh . He will be remembered for these traits and more .

Mark was a good friend. He was a great listener and always pointed me back to Christ. He was there for me in a confusing time in my life and was a genuine mentor to me. He gave me his honest opinion wasn’t afraid to say “I don’t know” rather than give me an answer that sounds right. He definitely had the gift of encouragement, pushing me to do some of my crazier ideas. He was very artistic and shared that gift with everyone through baking, personalized gifts etc. Mark will be missed.

I am sad for Mark’s leaving the world that now is, and happy Mark has gone to be with the King of Glory in heaven. my condolences to you.

I met Mark about three years ago when he started attending Messiah’s Reformed Fellowship. In that time he made a profound impact in my life. My roommates and I were blessed to discover that his apartment was only a 10 minute walk from ours. We would frequent his home often to break bread together and enjoy each other’s fellowship. Mark was a faithful brother in Christ and someone who I was happy to call my friend. He blessed myself and his church community through his words of wisdom and encouragement, his hospitality and desire to bring people together, and his many acts of service toward the church (teaching catechism to the children in our congregation, preparing delicious meals for fellowship, opening his home to people who needed a place to stay, singing in the church choir, edifying the church through his writing, evangelizing, etc.). Above all, what I admired most about Mark was that his love for others was a reflection of the love of Christ. Though we can mourn that he has departed from this life, we do not mourn as those who do not have hope. We can rejoice knowing that he is in the loving arms of his Savior and that we will see him again in glory. He has finished his race, and has finally exchanged his cross for a crown. Well done, Mark.
